Why Parents Need Keylogger Software

Why Parents Need Keylogger Software

The emergence of the internet, and associated technologies like email and instant messaging, present problems for today’s parents that were unimaginable just twenty years ago. Children use computers for homework, surf the web at their leisure and socialize through instant messaging - all activities that are often outside direct parental control and by themselves leave little or no record of their occurrence.

Some parents attempt to solve the problem by banning computer use entirely or allowing it only when a parent directly supervises, but most find this is not a realistic solution and places their child at an academic and social disadvantage compared to other children. On the other hand, unfettered access to a computer with access to the internet poses real dangers to children. Consider the following:

* Computer-sex offenders almost always meet potential victims in instant message chat rooms. Chat rooms grant these predators anonymity and a belief their instant messages are not monitored or recorded.
* The average age of first exposure to pornography is over the internet is 11 years old.
* The FBI recommends you monitor your child’s access to all types of live electronic communications, including instant message and email.
* One out of five children were aggressively pushed to have face-to-face meetings with strangers in the last year, often via instant messaging.
* Because young people often find instant messaging easier than talking face to face, they often say things they wouldn’t say in person. Cyber-bullying has become a new form of harassment.
* While online predators usually gradually seduce their targets through attention, affection, kindness, and even gifts, some predators work faster than others, engaging in sexually explicit conversations immediately.

Many parents are finding an acceptable middle-ground between no supervision at all and direct personal control of their children’s computer use is to use inexpensive and readily available keylogger software. Keylogger software monitors a child’s actions on the computer and stores this information for later review by a parent. Quality varies, but keylogger software is usually easy to install and setup, requires no advanced knowledge by the user, and often can be purchased for less than $30( one vendor of keylogging software is PCSentinel Software - www.pcsentinelsoftware.com ). Outside of physically being present and watching while a child uses the computer, keylogger software is the only way for a parent to know exactly how their child is using their computer.

Unfortunately, some parents are reluctant to use keylogger software because they feel they are they are spying on their children, or that their children are good kids and don’t require this level of supervision. However, the fact remains that even “good” or “smart” children are still just children and often make, or can be induced to make, very bad choices with awful consequences.

Even savvy children who feel they are protecting their private information from strangers in chat rooms often don’t realize how much personal information they may reveal over many conversations - and predators are known to keep detailed files on their victims, often piecing together small bits of information gathered over many conversations to construct an outline of a child’s daily routine and whereabouts.

Ultimately, it is hard to argue that keylogging software is not a necessary tool for every parent with children who have access to the internet. Simply put, it is the parent’s responsibility to know with certainty what is going on in their children’s lives - and given the dangers of unmonitored internet access the only way parents really know how their children are using their computer is through keylogging software.

New keylogger records everything

New keylogger records everything

Invasion of Privacy has never been easier

Actual Spy is a keylogger. It is designed for the hidden computer monitoring and the monitoring of the computer activity. Actual Spy is capable of catching all keystrokes (key logger), capturing the screen within specified time intervals, logging the programs being run and closed, monitoring the clipboard contents, monitoring the printer, monitoring the file system, recording web sites visited on the Internet, monitoring connections to the Internet, monitoring startup/shutdown. All data is logged in the encrypted log file.

Actual Spy can create a report in the text as well as in the html format, and send it on the specified email, via FTP and a local area network. It’s absolutely invisible in all operating systems.

Actual Spy can give you all the information that’s currently being processed on your computer by its users. After putting it through a rigorous test, I came to the conclusion that this program is one of the more in depth keyloggers that you’re going to be using. I was surprised by the amount of information it was capable of storing… honestly.

Inside

The tabbed interface supports a variety of functions that are helpful in identifying exactly what goes on within the computer. The tabs are separated into PC Activity, Internet Activity, Reports, and Settings (there’s an about tab if you’re interested about the product).

The PC Activity tab is separated into seven sections; Keystrokes, Screenshots, Applications, Clipboard, Printer, Files and Computer. The most useful of these will be your Keystrokes, Screenshots and Applications tabs. The keystrokes is the key to the whole program since this is its main function. After recording activity, it gives you information on the time certain keys were recorded, the Windows caption (what program was currently selected), the application path (where to find it) and the user name.

It performs quite the feat of recording absolutely anything and everything (including several other Web Browsers that some key loggers don’t support like Maxthon, Firefox and Opera). If you’re wondering what sorts of things are recorded; anything from chat services to emails are on the list. AIM, Yahoo Messenger… anything that requires keystrokes will be recorded. Trust me.

If you get confused at the technicalities of the log files, you can easily take a look at the screenshots that you can also set to record (you can set the specified interval as well). The advantage to this program is that it also lets you see what’s been copied and pasted by recording the clipboard actions.

The Internet Activity tab generally shows you the same information that PC Activity does (as in windows caption, URL and username). This is where you can see the detailed Web sites that were visited. Your Reports tab will give you the option of choosing what sorts of reports you’d like to record (Keystrokes, Screenshots, Files, Computer, Internet Connections, Applications, Clipboard, Websites visited, or printer). You can set the reports in either HTML of text format and assign when a report is due to be created.

The last useful program tab is your Settings tab. Here’s where you’ll make sure to see if your log file path is correct, you can even create a password protect hiding option. I thought the cool thing about Actual Spy was that you’re even given the option of encrypting your log files. I mean, that’s pretty hardcore right there. You can set it to start up with your system and automatically set it to autohide (you cannot see the application in your Ctrl-Alt-Del Taskbar). Under the hiding option, you’re able to remove the program’s shortcut from your Desktop and Start Menu… You can even remove it from “Add Remove Programs” as well as hide the program folder… Again, this is pretty intense.

Actual Spy is one of the more in depth keyloggers I’ve been able to test thus far. Although it’s worth mentioning the trial version only gives you a 40 minute trial, it’s well worth the purchase if you do in fact want to spy on others using the same computer as you are.

The Good

It’s an absolute lock as a good keylogger. For parents and stalkers alike, this program will definitely fulfill your computer user inquiries. You’ll see what’s being types, by who it’s being types, what programs they have opened while they’re typing and which Web sites are being accessed. It not only tells you, but it also takes screenshots for you. Actual Spy is a powerful, well hidden and super informative key logger.

The Truth

If the only gripe I had about the program was that I couldn’t resize the window, then you know that it’s worth it. Although the price is $59.95 for one user registration, it will be worth the money for what it does. They also have process for other numbers of registrations, so if you own a business, they have a special price for you if you want to monitor your computer use by your workers. This is a small program that runs on all versions of Windows from 95 through to Vista. Definitely worth the price for the power, the utility, the practicality and the penetrating efficiency at prying.

When to Sell Your Structured Settlement

Written by guru-reviews on Mar 21st, 2008 | Filed under: General

When to Sell Your Structured Settlement

A structured settlement often follows a life changing incident, whether it be positive or negative. Due to these circumstances, you may be faced with the need for a large lump sum payment rather than small monthly payments over a number of years. So, where do you turn? To a company that can buy your structured settlement from you and turn it into an immediate payment that you may use on whatever you see fit.

Each individual has different reasons for wanting to sell their structured settlement, however, first you must decide if it is the right decision for you.

The Benefits of Selling Your Structured Settlement

A large portion of those who receive a structured settlement can benefit from selling it for a lump sum payment. The situations listed in this section represent possible circumstances of individuals that may get the most rewards from selling their structured settlement.

- If you cannot wait to receive small, spread-out payments over a long period of time due to a dire financial situation or hefty medical bills and/or lawyer fees. Many of the situations that can bring about a structured settlement can also stick the individual with such obligations.

- If you and your family decide that this is the time to finally make that large purchase that you have had your eye on. For example, if you have previously been denied mortgages or loans and would like to take this opportunity to buy that dream home you have always wanted. Or if you have a child or children who are preparing to go off to college and you fear you may not have the financial means to support that dream otherwise.

- If you have talked with a financial advisor and both of you feel that you could profit more by investing a lump sum payment, rather than waiting on monthly payments. If the money is invested properly, there is a chance that you could end up with more money in the end than your settlement was ever worth. However, this should not be a plan that is entered into lightly. You should work closely with a financial specialist and feel confident that you have found a great opportunity to invest in.

- If you are of older age and feel that you may not be around long enough to receive a fair amount of your structured settlement. You may want to the chance to enjoy the benefits of your settlement or may want to secure part of it for your family after your passing. This way you can distribute the funds as you see fit instead of relying on lawyers or courts.

- If you don’t plan to use the money right away, but would rather put it into a savings or money market account to draw interest. This would be best suited for someone who has a very hefty settlement, can find an account with large payoff terms, and plans to keep the majority of the money in the account for many years.

No matter what your reason for wanting to sell your structured settlement, choosing this option puts you back in control of money that is rightly yours. The problem that many individuals have with their structured settlements is that the control over their money is left to lawyers, courts, and the company or persons paying out the settlement. You are now able to say where, how, and - most importantly - when you spend your money.

The Drawbacks of Selling Your Structured Settlement

For a few individuals, selling their structured settlement and receiving a lump sum payment may not be in their best interest. One must also evaluate these situations and determine if they outweigh the reasons you are considering selling your settlement.

- First and foremost, selling you structured settlement means that you will receive less money than you would if you were to keep it. However, for many people considering this option, this seems like a win-win situation - they will get one large lump sum payment and the company they sold it to will make a profit in the end. The good news is that since you have several companies competing for your settlement, you can choose the one that will give you the a portion of the full settlement that you can live with.

- Because you may lose out on a substantial portion of your settlement by selling it, if you are in a financial situation where regular monthly payments will only be a bonus on top of what you already make, waiting out your settlement may be in your best interest. However, if you’re a senior, then you should also take your age and the length of your structured settlement into consideration. This would be the ideal situation for someone who is young enough that they have a great chance of living out the life of their settlement.

- If you are a person who is poor at managing large sums of money, then selling your structured settlement may not be right for you. For example, if you are the kind of person who gets a large paycheck every two weeks and finds themselves running low on available cash at the end of those two weeks, then that may be an indication that needs to be closely looked at. In this type of circumstance, having your settlement portioned out to you on a monthly basis may keep you from spending it too quickly. Once your settlement is gone, you will be back at square one.

- For those reasons, you should also not consider selling your structured settlement if you have an addiction to gambling, shopping, or drugs.

- If your settlement was due to an accident that has put you out of work and the funds from it will replace your monthly income, then keeping the payments on a monthly basis may help your family keep your finances in order. However, even in this situation selling your settlement may be best for you if you would like to renegotiate your payments into a larger sum each month to shorten the life of the settlement.

Most individuals receiving a structured settlement can benefit from selling it to a company that can give them a large lump sum payment or shorten the life of the settlement, especially if they are older persons, an individual who has enormous expenses due to an accident or court case, someone in a critical financial position, or one who wishes to make a large purchase for themselves and their family. Finding the right company with terms that fit your needs is a key component of making your experience with selling your structured settlement a positive one.
