Web Site Hosting Review

Web site hosting means providing place for a personal web site on a certain hosting company’s servers, that makes it viewable on the Internet. So, if you have poor knowledge on web site hosting, keep reading this web site hosting review.

The basis of web site hosting

You are probably asking yourself why you need web site hosting. Well, imagine that you have created a personal website, and you want everyone to see it; imagine that you want to develop an e-commerce web site and you want to have as many visitors as possible. This is the moment when you most need web site hosting.

It is true that you can place the site on your computer, but what would you do in case the internet connection fails. If you want your web site to be viewable 24 hours a day seven days a week, then a web site hosting provider is the answer for you.

Several types of web hosting

To make this web site hosting review complete, I should mention the several types of web hosting.

Free shared hosting

First, there is the free shared hosting. This is mostly beneficial for small personal web sites. If you are a beginner in this area, a shared hosting with no fee is perfect for your non-commercial web site. Unfortunately, you can not expect to have the same technical support, disk space, PHP support or bandwidth that other people pay for.

Paid shared hosting

Paid shared hosting is one of the most popular types of web hosting. Small, medium or large professional sites, they all use shared hosting. A whole server will cost too much, and a site will have no need for the whole space, so shared hosting is ideal for them. Besides the low costs, the sites will also have proper technical support, and some other features such as e-mail, PHP or MySQL. The disadvantage is of course the insecurity of shared servers.

Dedicated servers

For a large e-commerce professional web site, the dedicated server is the most reliable solution. This will provide you with all the necessary software; you will have a lot of space and bandwidth and all the other facilities that your web site needs. The only disadvantage appears if you are inexperienced in server administration. Just read a web site hosting review or a forum before you make the final decision.

Co-location

A good web site hosting review would not overlook the co-location. This sub type of dedicated server is not so popular, and it is designed for everyone’s personal needs. Also, because you will be the only one using it, the costs will also be supported by yourself.

Virtual private servers

The last of all the web site hosting types is the virtual private server. This is a type of web site hosting that is mainly based on dividing a physical server into several small virtual ones. It will give the same possibilities as a dedicated server but the advantage is that it will cost less.

Now, that we have examined all the different types of hosting services, you can decide which type of hosting is the most suitable for you. I just hope that this web site hosting review will help you make the best decision.

The spotlight of this review is on Kiosk Webhosting.

Before we go further, let us understand the fact that Webhosting business is a very competitive business in the online world since the last few years. The competition is getting much more tougher now since there are many more webhosting companies going on board day by day and they are offering many more benefits than ever before.

Kiosk is another webhosting company, founded in 1998. This company is privately owned by Therien’s family and is based in Ottawa, Canada. The president of Kiosk Webhosting is Joel Therien.

The objective of this review is to answer the question of “What makes Kiosk different from other webhosting companies”.

I believe this company is unique in a few ways that’s worth to look at. Let us analyze three of them.

1. Service and Pricing

Currently, Kiosk offer 3 packages – Bronze, Silver and Platinum. They are priced at $5.95, $18.95 and $24.95 per month respectively.

In my opinion, these package plans are reasonably priced considering that Kiosk own and maintain their own web servers. They are not a typical reseller company that a lot of other webhosting companies are operating.

However, if you are into Internet business and are planning to use databases and scripts, I wouldn’t recommend the Bronze package. The least that you’d want to subscribe is the Silver package.

The Bronze package is a basic plan and it does not have MySQL. But, of course, if you don’t plan to use MySQL database in the initial development of your website, then the Bronze package is a nice entry level for you. You can upgrade to Silver or Platinum package once the needs arise.

However, it would be nice to see if even the Bronze package gets at least one MySQL database to be more competitively priced.

2. Company support

What I like the most about Kiosk is their “fanatical” technical support (as they mentioned it on their website) and a whole different approach in providing support to their clients or members.

Majority of webhosting companies have the 24-hour 7-days a-week support, which you can reach by phone or chat online.

Kiosk also provide the all round-the-year support, but what’s so unique about them is that they have an almost daily web VOIP conference meetings where clients and members can login and talk to the company’s president.

Having web conference meetings is not a big deal but being able to talk to the company’s president directly is something that not many companies are doing.

The VOIP web conference is a tool for the clients and members to learn the company, the technical knowledge of running a website and marketing Kiosk for another additional stream of income.

MOreover, guests are also welcome to learn more about Kiosk and get any of their questions answered in the conference room before they make any decision whether Kiosk is the right solutions for their online presence.

Guests can take a peek at Kiosk’s activities by downloading their free web conference software. A full instruction on how to get the free web conference software is here:

http://www.kiosk.com/members/profit/conference.html

I will say that this feature is a very huge advantage to Kiosk’s members and those who want to learn Kiosk’s business.

3. Cash benefits

Webhosting companies use many different approaches to get new clients and to retain existing members. Among the many approaches are such as offering free hosting, offering lowest prices possible and plugging in affiliate programs based on per customer commissions.

Kiosk take a different approach and leverage the power of word of mouth advertising, also known as multi level marketing, to reach more potential clients.

They are paying their members for each new customer they and their downline refer to Kiosk. Under certain conditions, their members can also get paid when their upline refer new customers to Kiosk. To most Kiosk customers, it’s a whole new marketing concept for a webhosting company. They get to host their websites with Kiosk and get paid for referring new customers.

The drawback (or advantage) of this marketing approach is that Kiosk can be looked at as an “income opportunity” company rather than a webhosting company.

In my opinion, this marketing approach can be a strong benefit to Kiosk and is something other companies can consider applying. In fact, there’s a rather new company, website.ws, adopting multi level marketing concept for their business too.

On top of attracting customers who want to subscribe to webhosting service, through their marketing plan, Kiosk are also attracting individuals who are looking for a way to build an online income.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Kiosk have made a few distinctions among hundreds, if not thousands, of other webhosting companies on the Internet.

If you have a tight budget, but want to start building a simple website for your business and your online presence, I’d recommend Kiosk for a start. As web conference meetings are available almost every day, it is a very good idea to join one of the meetings, ask questions and compare with other companies.

Kiosk is also a family business and if you attend one of their conference meetings, you could feel the warmth, like you belong to the Therien’s family.

I give Kiosk 7 out of 10 rating for their overall performance.

Bear in mind that this short review covers only a small portion of what Kiosk is all about. It is worth for you to check out the company yourself.

Review Web Host – To Prevent Web Host Shut Down

This article is based on a true experience that took place with my web host. I am not here to blame or try to give my web host a bad name, I am here to review web host, that makes sense to you when it comes to choosing a web host provider that is right for your business.

All web host are created equal in my eyes, that is, or that used to be, until I got shut down without warning. It was very hard for me to understand how I could start a new website from scratch and eat up 40 Gigs of bandwidth in that short apan of time (3 months, and I was shut down).

You should review web host, before you make a choice. The problem online today is how can you make a sound web host review with all the thousands out there.

It is impossible to review the thousands of web host out there, but it is in your best interest if you just review web host that are in high demand. Many of the top marketers have their own server, and you can’t afford to pay $200 or more monthly for your own server.

For you to prvent web host shut down, you will have to learn how to use the forums to find recommendation for choosing your web hosting provider. I didn’t do my own research and that is why why web host shut me down without notice.

After being shut down, I went to two of my favorite forums and read a couple of post regarding my hosting company, and realized that no one had any great experiences with said company. They gave poor web host review grades for that host, well life is a learning process, and I know what not to do when choosing a web hosting povider.

Here are my four tips you should follow to review any web host:

1) Don’t ever go for unlimited domain names. One other point worth mentioning, don’t ever go for unlimited domain names, whenever you create a new account they automatically divide up your hosting bandwith. That menas that if you have just 40 Gig of bandwith and you divide it up by four domain names, you have allready used up all your bandwith.

So, any other new domain name you add will make you exceed your bandwidth, please understand I am just showing you the rip offs that takes place with some low cost web hosting providers. They say that they will warn you when your exceeding your bandwidth, but they just never do. They make you pay extra for unlimited domain names, but you being new to the Internet, you won’t ever need more than three to six domain names to get you started.

2) Don’t go with any hosting company that requires the full amount up front. They offer low cost web hosting if you pay the yearly price up front. Well, once you have paid for the year, you are tied to this comapny, should their service be not worthy, you will loose your initial yearly payment. Go with a company that has a 3 month or monthly payment plan, with a money back guarantee.

3) Test by sending a simple email to your web host first. Just send off a simple email telling your webhost that your interested in their hosting, this is a must for you to review web host that are unknown. The response time to your email will let you know what type of service they offer.

4) Ask for a charge back As you know, the client is supposed to be king, keep all your receipts in place, and should you ever be shut down by your web host after paying a yearly plan, just go to your credit card provider and file a complaint for a refund. Don’t let anyone scam you out of your money.

The final conclusion, your the one to blame if you get scammed, so make sure you follow my review web host tips before handing out your credit card.
